February is just around the corner, and while most people have Valentine's Day on the brain, I'm gearing up for my Lunar New Year celebration. A few weeks ago, I bought some gorgeous paper lanterns from Asian Ideas. I just fell in love with the rich colors. Today, I made coordinating tangerine and turquoise rabbit cupcake toppers using Duff Goldman's buttercream fondant, and brown and pink sprinkles.

Fondant Cupcake Toppers
Our friend, Loan, is our "go to" person when it comes to fondant cakes and cupcake toppers. When we celebrated her birthday tonight, the kids (ages 4 to 7) gave her the night off by making carrot cupcakes with fondant toppers. Some people are intimidated when it comes to working with fondant, but it's very similar to play dough. Seriously, it's so easy to use, even your kids can do it. Just look at all of the super creative pumpkins, turkeys, and other toppers that the girls made with fondant.

Halloween Cupcake Toppers
I spent the past few days sculpting these cupcake toppers to coordinate with the Halloween designs from Monkey Moo Moo. Boy, it took me a really long time to make all of the tiny details. I even brushed them with some white pearl dust for a touch of shimmer (thanks for the tip, Loan). I'm so happy with how they turned out : ) BTW, the Monkey Moo Moo giveaway ends tonight at 11:59pm EST, so be sure to enter for a shot at winning these DIY printables.
Year of the Pig Cupcake Toppers
We celebrated my husband's birthday last night with a few of our closest friends. As usual, Loan wowed us all with her Year of the Pig cupcake toppers.
Dinosaur Cupcake Toppers
I followed the tutorial from A Baked Creation, www.abakedcreation.com, and sculpted a t-rex and stegosaurus out of Duff Goldman's buttercream fondant. Although the fondant was a little bit too soft to make figures, they turned out better than I had expected. Hey, not bad for my first time. Two dinos down, thirty more to go...
