A big thank you to all of the crafty party peeps who entered the 4th Party Tutorial Contest to celebrate my 40th birthday. It's been so much fun, but the party's not over yet!
The link party ended last Friday and Louisa over at FLIPAWOO, Nikki from Nikki, In Stitches and Kristen of Decorate This! have picked their top 3 DIY party projects (displayed in no particular order). Here's what the judges had to say about each tutorial.
1. Black & White Tray - Party Patisserie
~ I love that she made it from scratch, and didn't just rework an old tray or repurpose something. (And I love that she knows her way around the hardware store!) I'm beyond impressed by her ability to hand paint the design on the tray. (I absolutely would have had to use a stencil!) And I think her tutorial is easy to follow, and her pictures are really, really good.
2. Paper Lantern - Creative Juice
~ It seems easy enough where it doesn't require too many materials to put the lantern together. Various paper designs, shapes or textures could also be used to help fit the theme of your party. I wish I saw this tutorial earlier because I would've used this as hot air balloons for my daughter's birthday party last year! I love how the little boy made the tutorial fun to read as well!
3. No-Sew 3D Heart Garland - The Sweetest Affair
~ As a non-sewer, I really like how easy it is to put this together, and the idea will work well with other shapes. I like the 3D idea as well - it literally adds another dimension to your party backdrop :) The tutorial is super easy to follow, and the photos are great.
Now it's your turn to vote! Help decide who gets to take home a dozen flat fondant toppers from Lynlee's Petite Cakes, the $40 gift certificate to Piggy Bank Parties, and baked goodies from 6 Bittersweets. By simply voting and leaving a comment here, you'll be automatically entered into our random drawing* for Sweet Designs: Bake It, Craft It, Style It by Amy Atlas. Her long awaited book is currently on pre-order, but the lucky winner will get a copy as soon as it comes available. A must-have for anyone who is passionate about designing and styling dessert tables. Couldn't be any sweeter.
* Drawing is open to U.S. residents only. Must be a blog follower or Facebook fan of Pure Joy Events to enter. Finalists are also eligible for the drawing. Share this post and leave another comment for an extra entry.
