Don't laugh, but I came up with the theme for Caitlyn's 8th birthday party a year in advance. It was going to be a roller sk8ing (come on, that's pretty clever, right?) party at the local rink. And since she loves all things kawaii (Japanese word that means cute), I knew that Linnette of Paper Glitter would be my go-to designer for the custom printables. I've been a huge fan of Linnette's work for some time, and was totally blown away by the Hello Kitty party that she threw for her daughter's 3rd birthday. So when I emailed her in April and learned that she wasn't accepting any new custom design projects, I was completely bummed. OK, time for Plan B. Luckily for us, Paper Glitter offers a bunch of adorable party collections that can be personalized. We decided to scrap the skating party idea, and go with a Kawaii Love party. It's so Caitlyn!
Aren't the invitation, envelopes and envelope liners from the Japanese Kawaii Love deluxe party kit just yummy? They all have the words "Happy Birthday" written in Japanese. If that wasn't cute enough, I used polka dotted lime green washi tape from CupKate's Event Designs to seal the envelopes.
Let me tell you, it's been really fun pinning ideas and images onto my Kawaii Love board. For me, bento lunch boxes, Japanese washi tape, miniature Iwako erasers, mochi balls, and smiley faces ooze cuteness. Check back in August for all of the party details and tutorials, minus the dessert table!
