The buffet table stretched a mile long (picture doesn't even show the other half of the spread) and included international dishes like shrimp pad thai, chicken satay, English tea sandwiches, spinach empanadas and margherita pizza.
A photo booth area with handcrafted 3D circle garlands and rosettes for the backdrop was set up in the corner of the room; and stocked with fun props, like eye glasses, mustaches, royal crowns, hula skirts, togas and sombreros. After dressing up and posing for the camera, guests stamped their passports.
The passports also served as cards to write down words of wisdom for the parents-to-be. Everyone had a good laugh when some of those cards were read out loud. Other shower activities included a travel trivia game and baby bingo.
For the favors, globe shaped cake bites decorated with airplanes from Sweet Tooth were boxed and tied with brown satin ribbon. Thank you tags were stamped in 5 different languages -- English, Thai, Spanish, French and Italian.
With over 65 guests in attendance, there was no way I could've pulled off this event on my own. Traci, Angela, Linda (Auntie-to-be) and Ellyn helped with set up/clean up and coordinated the games and prizes. Just about all of the food was made and prepared with love by the grandmother-to-be, plus a crew of family and friends. We can't wait to meet Tanya and Freemon's future globe trotter.
